While the R&B-Funk band, Confunkshun, has been pleasing fans in the business of music for over 50 years, this year will prove to be one of the most significant and monumental times in the group’s history. Their rich music legacy includes a total of 11 albums, with eight top ten Billboard hits including the No. 1 hit single “Ffun,” “Chase Me,” “Shake & Dance,” “Baby I’m Hooked,” and more. And this year will be a milestone for the group with the release of the long-awaited holiday album.

This 12-song holiday album includes something for everyone with four original songs and several traditional favorites. In addition to the previously released favorite, A Christmas Kind of Day, fans will delight in hearing Felton Pilate’s soothing falsetto on the classic, I’ll Be Home for Christmas. Christmas parties will be sure to rock with Jingle Bell Rock, while Confunkshun shows off their superb musicianship with remnants of jazz as lead vocalist, Michael Cooper perfectly leads their rendition of My Favorite Things. With a combination of original songs like It Must Have Been Amazing, and Trying To Make It Feel Like Christmas, along with Confunkshun-style classics of the Little Drummer Boy, Do You Hear What I Hear, and Joy To The World and more, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

“We want to leave the gift of music to all our listeners with this Christmas Album that brings sweet memories of the past with the classics, makes new memories in the present, and lasts forever in the future as a holiday tradition,” said founding member, Michael Cooper.

The holiday album comes fresh off the trail of a successful nationwide Love’s Train Reboarded 40 th Anniversary tour launched after supergroup Silk Sonic’s (Bruno Mars & Anderson Paak) remake of fan favorite, Love’s Train, reached #1 on the charts. It was forty years ago that Confunkshun fans first caught the “Love’s Train” (written by Confunkshun’s Michael Cooper & Felton Pilate) pushing the “To The Max” album to Gold Status without the song ever being released as a single. The opportunity was long lost until February 2022 with Silk Sonic’s release; ultimately introducing Confunkshun to an entirely new generation of fans.

And if these milestones weren’t enough, the 2022 milestones continue to flow as founding member Michael Cooper and Felton Pilate were presented with Honorary Doctorates of Humane Letters from the Christian Bible Institute.

With Confunkshun member Dr. Ron Moton (saxophone, flautist, and background vocalist) earning his PH. D in 2018, Confunkshun can proudly claim to be one of the only R&B Funk bands with three doctorate members! The newly titled Dr. Cooper and Dr. Pilate were also honored to receive the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Awards for their lifetime of service through music and more. This prestigious award has been awarded to a selected few Americans to recognize over 4,000 hours of extraordinary service.

Originating in Vallejo, CA, Confunkshun’s current lineup includes three original members, Michael Cooper, Felton Pilate, and Karl Fuller as well as the talents of Kurt “KC” Clayton, Ron Moton, Aaron Green, Rene Escovedo, and Brian LaTour. Additional support includes the service of long-time road manager and travel agent Steve Sullivan & Master of Ceremony, Clarence Isadore. The talented band members collectively include award winning writers & producers, business owners, college instructors, and community servants. They will soon thrill fans again with their upcoming new album scheduled for release in 2023, as Confunkshun continues to mesmerize audiences with magnetic performances throughout the country.

“Our goal has always been to consistently give our fans the commitment of our collective talent and energy through music,” said Cooper. We’re very thankful about the great music Confunkshun has been able to share with old school music lovers over the years, and are looking forward to connecting even more, with the R&B Funk music lovers of today in the same way, through both our holiday album and our new music to be released in 2023,” he said.
